 March 19, 2014: After a great victory at the Sonangol Africa Eco Race 2014 Jean Louis Schlesser decided to stop competing. A new Buggy 4X4 design has emerged this year, committed to the Italian Baja with Thierry Magnaldi and François Borsotto as co-pilot, they provide a nice 9th place overall.

FOURTH WIN FOR TEAM SONANGOL SCHLESSER!
Logical conclusion after its unstoppable progression during the race, Team Sonangol Schlesser took his fourth consecutive win on the banks of Lac Rose, near Dakar. After a free reign on the race, the duo Jean-Louis Schlesser - Cyril Esquirol climbed on the top of the podium of this fourth Sonangol Africa Eco Race.
This ceremony was followed by a large audience but also in the presence of team partners. Despite the difficulties of the race and demanding weather conditions, the Blue Buggy has never released the pressure on his opponents and won with panache. Between Dakar and Saint-Cyprien, between Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, the blue color was the main theme each day of this intense and exciting event.
For Jean-Louis Schlesser, winning is the goal and achieving this goal is the first satisfaction for a real competitor. I am very pleased to be in Dakar as this year's race was particularly hard and demanding. But nothing is written as we saw yesterday when our hydraulic ram was out in soft sand. To me, it's a very good win and Cyril really did a good job. The race was harder than last year and the weather did not help us imposing terrible conditions as the three-day sandstorm. René designed a beautiful route and we have experienced magical moments.
I want to thank my team, who as usual did a great job and of course, the partners who have chosen to trust me.In the right seat, the triple World Enduro Champion, Cyril Esquirol, comes back on this new experience.
I am delighted to have participated in the Africa Eco Race for the first time. The organization of this race is exceptional, especially the atmosphere and conviviality which allowed me to live magical moments. Sharing this experience with Jean-Louis was extraordinary, even if he has his own character, I understand him. To be a champion you have to be demanding. All this was very positive and my wish is just to come back, but next time, I hope, driving my own car!
The Team Sonangol Schlesser concluded in the best way this fourth edition of Sonangol Africa Eco Race and will certainly be back in 2013 !
After a first victory at the 2012 Sonangol-Africa Eco Race, the Sonangol-Schlesser team traveled close to Venise, for the Italian Baja, the first race of the 2012 FIA Cross Country World Cup. The team returned at home with 4th overall and won the 2 wheel drive category. “this race was hard because we had many fords to cross, some deep, with outputs of walking uphill which made difficult access on riverbanks.
But utlimately this race ended in another victory for our team, the 2012 target for Sonagol-Schlesser team is clearly to win the FIA RTT World Cup in 2 wheel drive category” said Jean Louis SCHLESSER.
So it is a successful output for this
Sonangol-Schlesser buggy which raced for the first time on the FIA
World Cup.

Second round of the FIA Cross Country World Cup in Abu Dhabi

For the second round of the Cross Country FIA World Cup, the
Sonangol-Schlesser team has shown his experience and his generosity
before high-level competitors.
In fact with 3 scratches on 5 legs, the SCHLESSER-ZHILSTOV duo was able
to get this victory against competitors very sharp. Until the last stage
Al-Mutaiwei has pursued the five times Cross Country World Champion to
overtake him. Driving his two-wheel drive buggy, the French driver had
completed the stage in 3h 08m 57s against 4h 08m 13s for the first
pursuer on the overall result
“The desert offered treacherous soft sand which need to tame to ensure a
good performance. «It took a drive very fast without breaking anything.
A race is never won before crossing the finish lane”... said Jean Louis
Schlesser
The new leader of the FIA Cross Country World Cup
(overall) and leader of the Two Wheel Drive Trophy, look forward to
follow him on the next round on the First Sealine Qatar Cross Country
Rally, on April 15-21.

After a sixth victory at the Desert
Challenge, Team Schlesser-Sonangol was running at the Sealine Qatar
Rally, counting towards the World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies.
Unlike the dunes of Abu Dhabi, Qatar Sealine Rally is on a dry and
very stony territory
"Every day we had to drive carefully and avoid punctures".
Starting the super special, in spite of a ground less
adapted to the buggy, the driver-manufacturer was immediately placed
in the Top 6.
On the third and fourth stage, the buggy Sonangol had two podium.
At the final, he finished fourth and won the two-wheel drive
category.

Leader of the Cross Country World Cup for Pilot, Copilot and Team
Leader of the Cross Country World Cup Two Wheel Drive Trophy for
Pilot and Manufacturer
"I am satisfied with the overall result as we reinforced our leading
position in the Two Wheel Drive Cross Country World Cup and on the
other hand, we keep the overall classification of the Cross Country
World Cup " said Jean Louis Schlesser .
« I am really happy for this victory. Since last year we had developed
our buggy. Our car is very efficient on these sand dunes. It is always
warm here; it is quite difficult for the machine and the crew.
